The new thing is conservation. But you keep hearing the same thing.
"Stop the water when brushing your teeth."
"Don't keep cars running when they are not in drive."
"Ride your bike to school or walk."
"Turn off the lights when you leave a room."
But I have some tips you might not have heard of before. Some I have made up, but they do help the animals or the environment. These first 2 are on what you can do in winter.
1. Keep the temperature no higher that 75 degrees. Why??? Because right above that temperature is when the air you used gets released into the air. and 75 degrees or lower would not hurt the air as much.
2. Wear layers. Your mom might not be the only one saying that. Have you noticed that when you enter a hot room when you are freezing compared to being cold and entering a cold room? You would get under a blanket faster when you enter the room normally. So if you enter a house without the AC on when you are hot from the layers, you wound have to turn on the air much later than you would if you entered cold. Less hot air=less pollution.
The next 3 facts are on animal conservation.
1. Never drink out off a straw on a zoo. ( If the zoos even offer any) Notice how no zoos have straws to drink out of? That's because a lot of people litter. And straws can weave their way (not by themselves, of course!) into the animals habitats, and the animals can choke or die on them. And what if those animals are endangered?
2. Go to a zoo that donates. That means , for example- " Admission: $25.00, $10.00 goes to our animals." The Philadelphia Zoo donates all of the admission fee to their animals.
3.Don't go to circuses. Huh? Why not? Because behind the fun, they are whipping the elephants and chaining the tigers up to fences! Why? Because they are training them to do what they want them to do. A good website to keep track of animal abusing in circuses and other circus info, go to
www.circuses.com Say "No", because animals can't.
This last 1 is on how to save water.
1. Beat The Heat!Don't water your garden at noon. The best time to water your yard is in the early morning or late evening when it’s cool outside. Watering when it’s hot and sunny is wasteful because most of the water evaporates before the plants have time to drink it.
This is all for now, but TRUST me, I will be back with new tips, new topics, and much MUCH more!!!!
