Theater is a very complex and beautiful art. What most people don’t know is before the play there’s a lot of hard work that’s put into it. Theater kids have to build sets, practice their lines, make costumes, and rehearse on stage. It takes a lot of hard work from very dedicated teachers and students.

“Our goal for this year is to have successful plays and recruit more students,” explained Mrs. Anderson. Mrs. Anderson also teaches the theater tech classes, which I am a part of. I can personally say that building the sets is a very difficult job, it takes patience and precision. “Don’t get me wrong, we have a lot of fun but it can also be very stressful,” says Mrs. Anderson.

Apart from having to build their own sets and costumes they also have to find resources and use scraps, but everything turns out amazing in the end.

“What’s it like being a part of the theater program?” I asked Landen Palacios. “It’s very stressful and a lot of hard work but the end result makes it all worth it,” he responded. The theater program also has to do their own marketing. They make posters and go around selling tickets. I truly believe that theater is the most hardworking and the most dedicated department.
